  • The American Interprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC) transcends boundaries to transform learning, policies, practices, and scholarship toward an improved system of health and wellness for individual patients, communities, and populations. 

  • The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) mission is to ensure that new and current health professionals are proficient in the competencies essential for patient-centered, community- and population-oriented, interprofessional, collaborative practice.
    • The IPEC core competencies were first adopted in 2011 and updated in 2016. In the years since the original document’s release and update, the IPEC core competencies have been widely disseminated throughout the health professions and embedded into both curriculum and accreditation standards.

  • The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) has used improvement science to advance and sustain better outcomes in health and health care across the world.

  • The Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice, a quarterly online-only journal, provides innovative ideas for interprofessional educators and practitioners through peer-reviewed articles and reports.

  • The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (Nexus) leads, coordinates and studies the advancement of collaborative, team-based health professions education and patient care as an efficient model for improving quality, outcomes and cost. It is the only such organization in the United States, designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as the sole center to provide leadership, scholarship, evidence, coordination and national visibility to advance interprofessional education and practice as a viable and efficient health care delivery model. 

  • The National Collaborative for Improving the Clinical Learning Environment (NCICLE) provides a forum for organizations committed to improving the educational experience and patient care outcomes within clinical learning environments. NCICLE seeks to simultaneously improve the quality of learning and patient care within CLEs through shared learning and collaborative practice among its member organizations.
