Patricia Kinser is a co-director of the Mindfulness for Healthcare Providers course. Dr. Kinser contributes extensive clinical, teaching, and research expertise to this course. She maintains an active clinical practice as a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner. She teaches in the nurse practitioner and PhD programs in the School of Nursing, and she lectures locally, nationally, and internationally about various applications of mindfulness practices for health.

Melissa Burton, B.S.

Melissa Burton is the Academic Coordinator and Fiscal Administrator for the Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care Center at VCU.  She previously worked in the VCU School of Pharmacy in Admissions for seven years, and left for a short period to finish her degree in Christian Education.  She has worked for the IPE center for the last few years in an administrative and financial capacity.

George Deeb, D.D.S., M.D.

George R. Deeb is an associate professor in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery and a co-director of the Mindfulness for Healthcare Providers.  Dr. Deeb brings expertise as both a surgeon and residency educator with experience in mindful practice as it relates to healthcare.  Dr. Deeb also has a fellowship in wilderness and environmental medicine and utilizes mindfulness techniques on expeditions as a high altitude mountaineer.
